Ape proves they are the Survival Of The Fittest with Everett’s Edgy High Cut of Metal Licks and Riffs.
Some albums are made to listen to quietly and some are made to blow your ear drums, and Survival Of The Fittest is made to make your ear drums bleed. After watching them play live in Kingston there is no way that you can listen to this album in a quiet fashion, You HAVE to turn the dial up and let this album shred your ear drums apart.
One song that will kick the livin hell out of you is “Beyond The Depths Of Reality“. Holy Sh*t this is a song and a half. If the intro into the song doesn’t make you want to start head banging then just give up listening to music altogether. The Drum Intro is what first kicks off the song which then leads into an awesome guitar lick. The Heaviness of the guitars/drums and the Bass beats in this song is what sets this song out for me, I crank the bass to max for this song. Near the four minute mark Everett takes off and shows off his shredding skills and then goes into one of the best Metal Riffs that I have heard in a while. I can listen to the last two minutes of this song over and over again and never get tired of listening to it.
“It’s All My Fault (This Time) arises your ears right from the start. With a tempo which eases you into the sound that is Ape, but don’t worry all of sudden at thirty seconds in get ready. Everett kicks off one of many to come wicked guitar licks, Galen Weir Kudos the heaviness of the guitar with his bass and Carlos picks up the pieces which are left with his Drums and then look the F*ck out your ears are about to get tuned. Throughout the entire song your head is not going to stop moving. Galen will put your subs to the test throughout the song, the best part about the bass in this song is Galen hits it harder at the right moments and not sporadic during the song. This song was a great choice to put as the first song on the album because of how the song eases you into the album.
The Drums at 40 seconds into “Friend Or Foe” sound like a machine gun going off in your head. Any drummer will probably enjoy this song, this song is pretty much made just for the drummer to show off. Any fans of the early Metallica will be able to relate to the starting of “Friend Or Foe”.
