Intercept - Symphony For Somebody Else

Intercept is back once again with their third release Symphony For Somebody Else.

By now there is nothing that is going to slow or stop this band. Having the pleasure in getting to listen to all three of their albums now, I am still amazed that they are not in the mainstream yet. I have enjoyed listening to the differences and how their sound is still growing.

Rest Of My Days starts out with a flicker guitar solo which leads into a full band assault but only for a brief moment. Christian does not waste any time before he adds his soft but edgy vocals. Throughout all three of their releases Christian’s vocals always seem to be one of the highlights of each songs. What I enjoy the most about the vocals are they contain a 90’s swig but with the extra Pop additive. Throughout the song the soft vocals are almost lost behind the sound of the crashing symbols but still keeps relative to the song. As you listen to the song for the first time you will find that you are left with thinking what is the next verse going to bring, being Intercept changes the tempo often in the song.

Members Of Intercept Are:
Christian Knudsen Vocals and Rhythm Guitar
Jeff Knudsen Lead Guitar
Jason Weiner Drums
Phil Romo Bass

The title track Symphony For Somebody Else starts off with a pop electric acoustic intro. Symphony For Somebody Else can be viewed as the song which can sum up the entire album on its own. The song blends in the characteristics within each song on the album. The opening hook could have had a little more power and strength added to it. If I had to choose which song was going to be the lead off song on the album it would be this song. The riff which is played throughout the song is a catchy one, and Christian really helps to progress the song while blending and stepping his vocals in with the guitars.  To finish off the song they used a slow fade out, which blends in with the starting of  Love Is Like That.

Intercept’s acoustic track Love Is Like That puts a easy listening rest upon the album. While bordering on pop/country line Love Is Like That helps break up the album a little bit. Compared to the other tracks off of the album this song is geared for Christian to showcase his more softer melodramatic vocal skills. A Cello is added to the give the song a bit of an abstract sound. The cello also helps fill a few voids that would have been left open. Love Is Like That is not entirely a acoustic track however during a break in the verse there is a standout guitar solo which takes control of the song and gives the song a bit more of a backbone.
