I received his cd when he played at the Elixir on December 29, 2005. This is Mark’s solo project without the Roamers. This EP is made up of 5 songs and just under 20 minutes long, and he was selling the cd for a mere $2 at the Elixir. The first song of the cd is a one minute Cello solo played by Erika Nielsen.

The second song is called Holland, it is an acoustic tune, with a quiet sounding electric guitar with a bit of the slide added to it. The cello can also be heard in the background which in my mind adds to the mood and sound of the song. This is a good example of what makes Mark Wilson’s cd different from other artists, The cd changes tempo and genre to draw in different listeners.

The third song on the cd is called Once Upon An October it is my favourite song of the cd because of the guitar riff at the start and is played throughout the song. Mark’s lead guitar playing throughout the song is the instrument that stands out throughout the song, I find that the guitar gives the song its character and has a nice groove and sound to it. The cello is also fills out the song nicely when the lead guitar stops to let Mark sing some lyrics.

The fourth song is called The Truth is …this is a song that I feel showcases his Neil Young, Lucinda Williams and his other folk influences. Mark plays the acoustic guitar and the harmonica in this folk rock song. It is a very good acoustic song with a slower tempo and his harmonica skills stands out.

The last song of the EP is called Waltz In A Flat. The title of the song is what the song sounds like. At the concert that I attended the some members of the audience made their way to the front of the stage and on the dance floor. The cello in the song is amplified during the song stand out more than any other song. The keyboard, Synth is also a bit louder than the other songs on the cd to give the song its mood and its sound.
