I first saw the band live at the Ale House in December, 2005. The band gave me a 5 song demo cd of the up coming release Evil Robots Decide To Attack Candyland. They are doing what some bands do while on tour; lay down some of their new tunes and watching how the crowd reacts to the songs.
Mediocre Robot is a three piece band with Annelise Hopkins on vocals, Scott Holyk on lead guitar and Sat Gill on drums. Annelise Hopkins voice sounds to me like Tia Carrere from Wayne’s World. Scott Holyk does a good job on lead guitar, in the song 1 up it sounds like he has a creed influence added into the song. The album is a regressive rock album with alternative with some Pink Floyd sound blended into it.
The songs on the album are 1up, The Threat, Finale, The March, and Epilogue.
This cd will make a good listen if you pop into your player lie on the couch and do what you did with your Pink Floyd albums back in the 70’s. My favourite song on the album is 1up, the song starts off with about 30 seconds of a slow pace with the lead guitar and drums playing then it starts to get louder and faster then about a minute and a half into the song Annelise starts with her excellent vocal talent. The song is put into a fast gear to finish it out.
So far this album is geared to let the music industry know who Mediocre Robot is.
