What makes this album unique is the fact that the album was made in support of a mini tour that Meghan did on her way to a wedding. There are only a few that were printed off so I would advise picking up your copy as soon as possible.
I have heard many lead vocals in my time where some I have liked and some I have not, Meghan’s has vocals in which I admire. If you are a fan of Alanis Morissette than you will definitely enjoy Meghan’s vocals. You could probably catch a few people off guard if you were to play a couple of Meghan’s songs and not tell who was actually playing until afterwards.
The album consist of eight songs all together, and two of which are bonus tracks. The eight tracks that are on the album are Still, Ball & Chain, Rise And Shine, Run Away, Reluctantly, People, Like You, Jack And Jill, and Waiting For Ben.
One of my favourite tracks off the album is the last track on the album entitled “Waiting For Ben”. I think what really makes this song one of my favourite tracks is the simplicity sound that the song gives off. The song starts off with light Bass and Percussion intro. Meghan’s vocals really shine out in this song compared to the other tracks as well. The Percussion and the Bass Guitar continue a simple sound throughout the entire song. When I have my interview with Meghan I definitely have to ask if this song is written about someone in particular because of the lyrics. Here is a sample of the lyrics.
Today is Monday and he’s late again
Think I might go insane
No this I can’t go on
With him treating me wrong
Something just got to change
Cause there is not enough time waiting for Ben
I hate always waiting for Ben
Including Meghans lead vocals the addition of the back up vocals are a nice touch to the song as well.
“Still” is the first track off the album, and my second favourite song off the album. “Still” is probably the best song that would introduce Meghan to radio play and also to a wider range of audience. Meghan’s explores her wide range vocal capabilities throughout the song. Her vocals can range from a soft rock to a high pitched female rock attitude. The vocal range is a major factor in why I enjoy this track second on the album. I am not bypassing the guitar or the percussion in any way because they are another major makeup of the song but the vocals really take the song to the extent where the song needed to go to.
