The Micronite Filters Puff Go The Dragon’s Mystic Fires derives a compelling album filled with Heavy Riffs, Power Rhythms and a indie Garage Rock Sound.
Puff Go The Dragon’s Mystic Fires 70’s acid sounding guitar riffs are just one of the few highlights which you will find on this album. The Micronite Filters maybe customary to Rock and Roll and they take the genre in many different directions throughout each song on the album. Ranging from a cover of a Neil Young song” Revolution Blues” to the melodramatic acid guitar blending of “When The Giant Wakes” and the blues sound of “The Electric Blue Sun”.
Right from the first song on the album “In Search Of Delights” The Mirconite Filters beings to take your mind on a Journey which you are about to embark on as you decipher their own mixture of Rock throughout the ages and the few different genres and sounds which they have written and created within each song. The song starts off in full Micronite Filters force with a power chords being played along with washed sounding vocals. I am intrigued throughout the song with the many tempo changes which happen throughout the song and how it creates a different mood within the song.
As the second song starts “Oh, Let’s get drunk” The Micronite Filters have changed over genres already providing us a different sound with a chord step Country/Rock song. One thing is for sure is that no one can really argue with the song title or the lyrics throughout the song. One of my favourite aspects of the song is the grinding guitar solo which can be found about two minutes into the song. Also the constant tempo/genre change throughout the song easily makes “Oh, Let’s Get Drunk” one of my favourite songs off the album.
